Audience profile research summary

Findings of our online questionnaire :   30 people filled out our online questionnaire, this has helped us to choose what elements to incorporate in our 2 minute intro.

First of all we discovered that 17 out of the 30 people we asked were between the ages of 16 - 20, from this we have discovered that our film should have the certificate rating 15. The next majority age group that we had was 11- 15. The second thing we found is that the genders we asked were split down the middle, 15 of the people were male the other 15 female. This 50/50 split in gender was good for us as our results wouldn't be biased and we would therefore be able to see what each gender likes. The next thing we discovered that greatly benefitted us is that 60% (18 people) preferred comedy over any other genre of film, because we are doing a comedy film opening sequence this gives us great confidence as based on our results more than half of the people we show the opening sequence to will enjoy the genre. Furthermore 50% of the people we asked said that they watch films often, however 43.3% of people said they only watch films sometimes. Something we found that is quite interesting but isn't necessarily needed for  this project is where people see advertisements most regularly. We found that 86.7% of people we asked said that they find the majority of their media texts through the internet and that 83.3% of people see advertisement through TV. Finally we discovered that 66.7% of people we asked said they preferred the music genre rock over any other, this gives us a good idea of what genre of music to put in our 2 minute opening sequence.

These results we gathered were very general and only give us a rough idea of what to base out opening sequence on. To get better results we would have to ask more people and ask and record more indepth questions.
